Each edition, tribute pauses on a single artist whose contribution to the history of art, through fire and material, has been monumental. The section also follows the resonance of that work across other media — sculpture, painting, drawing — so that a whole artistic practice comes into view.

Each year we honour a “dialogue with material”: work that is daring, at times revolutionary, at times nonconformist, and always strikingly free.
